Chilli Pepper

Chilli Peppers

Chilli peppers are a bit like, well they’re a cheat. And for those of you who can handle the heat, add a tablespoon of peppers to a meal once a day to really get your metabolism fired up. Each chilli contains capsaicin. And it’s this that’d make it easy for you to stay in the zone. Whether you’re spinning at Listers Health, or shopping out-n-about, taking one-a-day can help raise the temperature of your body by a little – the easy way. Oh – and make sure to keep hydrated during the day.

Green Tea

Green Tea

Green tea is the all-time favourite of many, but it’s not unusual if you’ve little idea how and why it’s popular. It contains EGCG. EGCG is basically a phytochemical with wondrous benefits linked to weight loss. A study published in the December 1999 Issue of the “American Journal of Clinical Nutrition” found participants who’d consumed EGCG to experience significant energy expenditure than those who didn’t. Simply add green tea to your diet, and see it work overtime – not instantly. Like all supplements, it’s an addition on top of a balanced, and carefully-managed low-calorie diet. Available as pills, or tea bags. Got a brand that works for you? Let us know on our Listers Health Facebook page.

Ginger

Ginger

Did you know Ginger can have a great detail of impact on your metabolism? Reported in the Journal “Metabolism” (2012), a study found consuming ginger not only increased energy expenditure, but also appetite! Yup, the warming effect – known as thermogenesis was produced by metabolising food in the body. Add it to cooking, or even drinks – sliced or whole. It’s totally up to you!
